Ode To Defiance (Quatern)
By Matthew White
Resist the lure of restlessness
Should trouble try to coax your yes.
Distraction’s smoke would cloud your view,
Would sting your eyes, would mask what’s true
But you were born to breathe and bless—
Resist the lure of restlessness.
Remember joy of bygone days,
Those refugees who came to play,
Crossing oceans deep and wild,
Now crossing footballs for your child.
Resist the lure of restlessness,
Allow the breeze to tame your stress.
The greatest gift that you can give?
Pay attention! Now, fully live,
Love being with, rest more not less,
Resist the lure of restlessness.
