Night Sky
A Soul–Searching Poem
“Starry Night Over the Rhône” by Vincent Van Gogh (1853–1890)
Night Sky
Night sky adorned with winking stars
And air pregnant with peace,
Impress on me your zigzag charm—
Let wonder birth release.
The day conjured its grievances
Designed to thieve resolve.
The day shone on my weaknesses
But night, my guilt absolves.
This scene is ripe for harvesting
With pipe and sacred book.
Night sky, fatherly armistice,
Into your depths, I look.
